Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)

Blockage of the venous circulation in the pelvic area is now known to be a cause of Chronic Venous Disease. Chronic Vein Insufficiency or CVI is a result of a lack of blood pump back to the heart. Chronic Vein Insufficiency often occurs from a blockage following DVT or an overlying artery.

IVUS or Intravascular Ultrasound is a procedure used to help diagnose Chronic Venous Disease. This procedure uses a special ultrasound catheter to capture images of compressed vessels allowing them to develop an arterial treatment plan to bring back the normal blood flow in those areas. IVUS imaging of veins and vessels provides valuable information about defects and it is adjacent to the veins.
